Poland’s Nolan Garey, the Class B state champion in the 55-meter hurdles while breaking the Class B state record, finished third in the boys event at the New England Indoor Championships on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.
Garey won his preliminary heat in 7.68 seconds — just off his Class B state record time of 7.62 seconds. He clocked in at 7.70 seconds in the final.
Edward Little’s Makenna Drouin had the 10th-fastest time in the girls 55 hurdles prelims, finishing in 8.73 seconds — two-hundredths of a second faster than her Class A state championship-winning time. The Red Eddies junior was two places shy of qualifying for the finals.
BOYS HOCKEY
FALMOUTH 8, LEWISTON 1: Rowen Hagerty recorded a hat trick to lead the top-ranked Navigators (17-2) to a Class A quarterfinal win over the eighth-seeded Blue Devils (7-12-1) in Falmouth.
Falmouth, which has won 17 in a row, advances to play No. 5 South Portland/Freeport/Waynflete at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Cross Insurance Arena. The teams split two regular-season games, each decided by one goal.
Payson Goyette scored the lone goal for Lewiston in the third period.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
WESLEYAN 15, BATES 3: Caroline Taggart, Lauren Wong and Allison Greuel scored as the Bobcats (1-2, 0-1 NESCAC) lost to the Cardinals (1-0, 1-0) in Middletown, Connecticut.
Olivia Lai had three goals and four players had two goals for Wesleyan.
Cammie Lavoie made 10 saves in net for Bates, and Avery Lehman added two in relief.
