“I’m proud to stand with my colleagues in support of a slate of legislation to strengthen reproductive health care laws and defend Mainers’ rights,” said Troy Jackson (D-Aroostook), president of the Maine State Senate.
It sounds noble, supporting health care and defending rights. Who wouldn’t be for that? Heck, I’m for that.
But people shouldn’t be fooled. Jackson’s definition of “reproductive health care” is aborting babies from mother’s wombs after 24-26 weeks, when a child’s life is viable. In reality, defending “Mainers’ rights” is legalizing infanticide.
Gov. Janet Mills, stood with Jackson and House Speaker Rachel Talbot Ross (D-Portland) on Jan. 17 to announce her support of explicit expansions in laws to abort more lives of Maine’s children, directly against her 2022 campaign promises.
Mainers are smart, reading past flowery political speech. We can share distinct reality with our district representatives.
We can say, “Vote against harsh abortion law expansions … now.”
