The frequent appearance of columnist Rich Lowry would suggest that the editorial staff of the Sun Journal take his postings seriously.
His latest column (“Biden’s push to radicalize the federal bureaucracy,” Feb. 24), is typical of Mr. Lowry’s diatribes. He states that the Biden Administration’s directions to include equity in the workings of the government is to be opposed. In order to alarm the readers he uses terms, such as “sinister,” “indoctrination,” insidious,” “distorting,” “never authorized — or imagined” and “ideological” as red flags, yet not a single one of these alarm bells is given a specific instance to show how badly this would affect the running of the government.
The stated aim of the current administration is, according to President Biden’s executive order on the matter, “Embedding Equity into the Government-wide Processes” in order to “advance a whole-of-government approach to racial equity and support of underserved communities.”
It then further names specific groups of Americans who are left behind in the process we currently use.
This, Mr. Lowry thinks, is an awful thing.
Apparently, in his thinking, we have already achieved a state of affairs that does not need such emphasis in government activities.
I do not want it thought that I totally disagree with Mr. Lowry. The last paragraph refers to the possibility that we might all become more “woke” than we are.
Now that I would like to see and experience.
