Just when you think some of the MAGAs have reached a new low, you read this in the Washington Post: “Lawmaker censured for asking if fatal child abuse saves taxpayers money.”
Alaska state Rep. David Eastman, a Republican, asked about the belief that it’s “actually a benefit to society” because there aren’t needs for further government services.
I guess he’d be fine if we saved money by doing away with child protective services and jail time for abusers.
Then of course we have U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (the “Jewish space lasers” woman) saying that we should legally divide the U.S. into red and blue states, and fine people for living in the wrong color state.
We also have U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert and some other Republicans saying we should make the AK47 the “national gun.” (She’s the one who sent out Christmas cards showing her husband, herself and all of her children carrying guns.)
We also discover through internal Fox memos that Tucker Carlson and other Fox commentators knew very well that Donald Trump lost in a free and fair election, but continued to lie about it because their lies built ratings.
It seems to me that we are halfway down a very slippery slope, and too many people don’t seem to care.
