RUMFORD — Seventy-four cheerleaders from grades kindergarten to 12 performed Thursday before an outpouring of supporters at Mountain Valley High School gym.

They represented Regional School Unit 10 towns of Rumford, Mexico, Roxbury, Hanover, Buckfield, Hartford and Sumner.

“Last year, Kassie Elliott and I started this as an opportunity for families to attend a local performance for their athletes where competitions are generally 40 to 90 minutes away, and traveling can be difficult,” Jessica Sirois said. There was a  tremendous response and before the performances ended “we knew this had to be an annual event.”

“The love and support for those performing were a testament to the power of support these athletes deserved after months of preparation and hard work,” she said.

Five groups — kindergarten and grade one, grades two and three, grades four, five and six, middle school, and high school — performed carefully choreographed routines. After a jump-off and tumble-off, awards were presented.

Guest judges were Gary Dolloff, Louanne Thibodeau, Josette Duguay, Joyce LeBlanc and Linda Burns.
