I wonder if there is any middle left in American politics.
The Sun Journal on Feb. 10 had three letters. In the first (“Capitalism won’t fix world’s greatest problems“), William Whitney says capitalism can’t be successful in today’s world.
Wrong. With all its warts, it is the only system that does work (see pure socialism’s failure in all tests so far).
Joe Voisine (“Beware of politicians who favor special interests over constituents“) worries about President Biden doing anything to stay in power? Really? He shouldn’t worry; Biden is not Donald Trump. Mr. Voisine also shouldn’t worry about the labor market; it is doing quite well.
Kevin Landry (“Reject breaking America into tribes“) can quote all kinds of stories about “wokeism” being a seditious religion (see “malarkey” in Mr. Voisine’s letter). No one has done more to tear America apart than those who condoned or supported what happened Jan. 6, 2021.
That was more treason than protest. That’s fact, not opinion.
