AUBURN — An Auburn woman escaped serious injury Monday morning when the car she was driving went off Broad Street and landed on its roof in the Little Androscoggin River, police said.
Police and fire crews responded to 556 Broad St. shortly before 8:30 a.m. and found Miranda Dostie, 26, of Fifth Street on the riverbank, according to a statement by Deputy Police Chief Timothy A. Cougle. She told police she lost control of the car, which left the roadway and rolled over before it went into the river, he said.
She was able to climb out of the 2007 Audi A4 and had injuries not considered life-threatening, he said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, Cougle wrote, but said speed is believed to be a factor.
Auburn Fire Department provided medical care and assisted with recovering the vehicle, Cougle said.
