LEWISTON — Dirigo made a fourth-quarter comeback to edge Mt. Abram 65-62 in the Mountain Valley Conference boys basketball championship game Saturday at Lewiston High School’s Coach Masse Court.

The Cougars led 29-26 at halftime but the Roadrunners outscored Dirigo 22-16 in the third quarter to take a three-point lead into the fourth.

Airick Richard scored eight of his 15 points in the fourth to pace the Cougars’ rally. Charlie Houghton scored a game-high 24 points, including 11 in the third. Nathaniel Wainwright led Dirigo in the first half with 13 of his 18 points.

Payton Mitchell scored a team-high 16 points for Mt. Abram, including six in the first quarter and seven during the third-quarter run. Kaden Pillsbury scored eight of his 14 in the second quarter and Bryce Wilcox poured in nine of his 13 points in the second half.

In the MVC girls basketball championship game, also at Lewiston, Spruce Mountain rolled past Kents Hills 69-44. The Phoenix led 40-20 at halftime.
