MEN’S BASKETBALL
UMF 104, SUNY CANTON 83: Terion Moss had the hot hand, throwing in 34 points to lead Beavers 7-(4, 3-0) past the Roos in Farmington.
Moss’s teammates Kyle Donlin scored 24 points and Nathan Poulin had 20. Terence Fields led the Roos (4-12, 2-4) with 21 points.
WOMEN’S BASKTBALL
SUNY CANTON 67, UMF 57: Joie Culkin and Hope Aniceto each scored 16 points as the Roos shook off the Beavers (1-10, 0-3) in Farmington.
The game was tight through the first half, but Suey Canton (8-7, 4-2) erupted for 24 points in the third quarter.
Jacie Stevens led the Beavers with 17 points, and Maddy White added another 14.
MAINE 69, NJIT 63: Adrianna Smith scored 34 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the University of Maine women’s basketball earned its third straight win, holding off the New Jersey Institute of Technology in an America East game in Newark, New Jersey.
Sera Hodgson added 12 points for Maine (7-8, 3-0 America East), which led 36-24 at the half.
Kenna Squier had 14 points and Aria Myers added 10 for NJIT (7-8, 2-1).
MEN’S HOCKEY
MAINE 4, ALASKA-ANCHORAGE 3: Cole Hanson scored on a Ben Poisson feed in overtime to lead the Black Bears (8-9) past the Seawolves (4-13) and completing a weekend sweep at Orono.
Poisson, Luke Antonacci and Michael Mancinelli also scored for Maine.
Ben Almquist had a pair of goals for Alaska-Anchorage, while Jarred White added a goal.
