DEAR SUNSPOTS: I know you have printed this information probably a million and one times. However, would you be so kind as to print it one more time? I’m looking for the contact information to add names to the monuments in Veterans Memorial Park on Main Street in Lewiston. I truly appreciate your help, again! — No Name, Auburn

ANSWER: Certainly! I’m always happy to give out this information. The Veterans Memorial Park is an inspirational testament to people who have served or are serving in all branches of the United States military.

Through the efforts of L&A Veterans Council Chairman Jerry Dewitt, other council members and volunteers involved in accomplishing this feat of honoring our veterans, this beautiful park was established and continues to grow as more memorial stones and benches are placed.

Readers can learn more about adding their veteran’s name to a memorial stone. You can complete an application with your service member’s information by contacting Jerry at 576-0376 or by emailing him at jdewitt@tcmhs.org. You can also go to https://www.lewistonmaine.gov/687/Veterans-Memorial-Park. There is more information about the park and an email form on that site.

You can also go to the cities’ websites at www.lewistonmaine.gov or www.auburnmaine.gov. Type Veterans Memorial Park into the search bar on the right and the information you need will pop up.

Your veteran must be serving, retired, or passed on, and honorably discharged from one of the branches of the United States military, including the Reserves or National Guard, Merchant Marine, or any other branches. A copy of any DD214, 215, 217-MC , WD AGO 53-55, or a photo in uniform needs to be attached to the application. The engraving fee is $35. The gesture of signing a vet up to have his or her name engraved on a monument would be a meaningful holiday gift for a vet or his/her family member.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: We’re looking for someone in the South Paris area to shovel snow off our garage roof when needed. The person must be insured. Please call me at 786-0170.

Thank you for helping so many people. — George, South Paris

ANSWER: I agree that it’s important to have someone who is insured. I know of someone who was not insured, fell off a customer’s roof and broke his back. Luckily, the community gathered together and paid his medical expenses through GoFundMe but it was a terrible ordeal with a lengthy recovery period. He is OK now but he certainly isn’t working on roofs anymore.

Check with local landscape companies to see if they provide roof-cleaning services or know of anyone. In the Rolodex I have Richardson Landscape Service in Oxford (http://richardsonlandscapeservice.com/, 890-0555) and Durgin’s Lawn & Landscape in Norway (https://durginslawnandlandscape.com/, 739-9022).  Readers, do you have anyone to recommend?
