AUBURN — Lewiston High School graduate Emily Strachan scored a game-high 17 points and made seven steals to lead the Central Maine Community College women’s basketball team to a 67-28 victory over Berkeley on Saturday.
Strachan also tallied five rebounds and four assists for the undefeated Mustangs (13-0).
Kali Thompson helped out CMCC with 14 points, and Cyla Moore added 10 points. Elizabeth Barrientos contributed a team-high seven rebounds, three steals, two assists, a block and five points. The Mustangs’ defense forced 45 turnovers.
Amal Mahmoud was the Knights’ (0-8) leading scorer with nine points. She also pulled down 18 rebounds and finished with five steals.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
BERKELEY 91, CMCC 86: The Knights scored the final 10 points of the game to pull off a road win over the Mustangs (9-2) in Auburn.
Berkeley College (2-4) led by seven points at halftime, 44-37, but Central Maine Community College caught up midway through the second half and held a 86-81 lead after Boston Caldwell’s jumpshot with 2:14 remaining in the game. The Knights held the Mustangs scoreless the remainder of the game, while Kenneth Hines scored three points and then Marc Combs hit the go-ahead 3-pointer and scored the final seven of the game.
Combs made 12 of 19 from the field and scored a team-high 35 points. Tahshon Moore made five 3-pointers for 15 points, and Hines and Karranja Bright each contributed 14 points to the victory.
Caldwell topped all scorers with 38 points on 13 of 19 shooting, including 7 of 12 from 3-point range. Wyatt Hathaway drained three treys and finished with 14 points for CMCC and Mpore Semuhoza scored 11 points.
COLBY 78, BATES 61: The Mules (9-1) led from start to finish and took down the Bobcats (4-5) in Waterville.
Jack Lawson and Noah Tyson both notched double-doubles for Colby. Lawson scored 21 points and pulled down 13 rebounds — both team-highs — and Tyson finished with 15 points and 12 boards.
Jahmir Primer was Bates’ top scorer with 14 points. Simon McCormick added 12 and Brady Coyne scored 11.
MEN’S HOCKEY
MAINE 3, CANISIUS 0: Cole Hanson and Jakub Sirota each netted a power-play goal and Maine extended its winning streak to four games with a shutout victory over Canisius in Orono.
Hanson put the Black Bears (6-8-1) ahead midway through the second period. Sirota made it 2-0 midway through the third, and Lynden Breen clinched the win in the final minute.
Victor Ostman stopped 22 shots for the shutout. Maine has allowed a total of three goals during its winning streak.
Jacob Barczewski made 23 saves for Canisius (5-11-2).

MEN’S BASKETBALL
BATES 70, BOWDOIN 60: Jahmir Primer scored 21 points to lead the Bobcats (4-5) over the Polar Bears (4-6) in Brunswick.
Simon McCormick added 17 points and Steph Baxter 11 for Bates, which outscored the Polar Bears 22-13 over the final eight minutes.
James McGowan led Bowdoin with 16 points, followed by Xander Werkman with 12 and Alex Halpern with 10.
