Trevor St. Claire serves hot cocoa and Christmas cookies Friday at FutureGuard in Auburn. St. Claire works in the fabric department of the family-owned awning business and helped decorate his department for the “Deck Your Department” contest. Three judges from Bonney Staffing toured the business’ eight departments and will announce what department comes out on top during the company Christmas party. “We thought employees would throw out some tinsel and call it good,” said Ronica Richardson. “But that did not happen. It has grown and grown over the past two weeks.” Employees mostly used repurposed materials that would otherwise be thrown out, such as fabric and aluminum scraps. The company is owned by Don Buteau, the owner of FutureGuard, so employees of Dough Masters decorated their working space for the companywide “Deck Your Department” contest. The dough makers were the only department out of eight that had to work and decorate at the same time. “It’s the holiday time,” said Ronica Richardson. “People want their dough balls.” Daryn Slover/Sun Journal
