Maine knocked down four 3-pointers in the fourth quarter Saturday afternoon to pull away for a 73-57 women’s basketball win over Niagara in the consolation game of the St. Mary’s Thanksgiving Classic in Moraga, California.

Sera Hodgson was 5 for 8 from behind the arc and led Maine (3-3) with 22 points. Olivia Rockwood added 14 points, Caroline Bornemann tossed in 12, Adrianna Smith chipped in with 11 and Paula Gallego had 10.

The Black Bears shot 53 percent from the field, including 44 percent (12 for 27) from 3-point range.

Aaliyah Parker paced Niagara (1-5) with 24 points.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

ST. JOSEPH’S 78, UNION 76: Ashtyn Abbott scored 27 points and blocked three shots, including one with 15 seconds remaining, as the Monks (3-3) held off the Dutchmen (0-4) in Schenectady, New York.

Griffin Foley added 17 points and Nicholas Curtis chipped in with 12.

MEN’S HOCKEY

MAINE 5, AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL 1: Lynden Breen had a pair of second-period goals, and the Black Bears (3-8-1) ended a five-game losing streak by defeating the Yellowjackets (7-7) in Orono.

Nolan Renwick, Donavan Villeneuve-Houle and Luke Antonacci also scored for Maine, which had a 46-18 edge in shots. Victor Ostman made 17 saves.

BOWDOIN 5, JOHNSON & WALES 2: Patrick Callahan broke a 2-2 tie with a power-play goal in the final minute of the second period, the Polar Bears (3-0) remained unbeaten with a win over the Wildcats (0-9) in the Colby-Bowdoin Classic at Waterville.

Andy Stoneman, Gabe Shipper, Jack Studley and Bobby Pearl also scored.

COLBY 3, UMASS BOSTON 0: Michael McEachern scored 7:42 into the contest and Max O’Brien and Jack Sullivan added goals 1:38 apart late in the third period as the Mules (3-0) beat the Beacons (2-7) in the Codfish Bowl at Boston.

Colby goalie Andy Beran turned aside 28 shots.

STEVENSON 6, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 2: Aidan McDowell scored a pair of power-play goals to pace the Mustangs (4-5) to a win over the Nor’easters (4-3) in Biddeford.

Garrett Devine recorded both UNE goals.

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

MAINE 5, CLARKSON 4: Alyssa Wruble knocked home her second goal of the game 34 seconds into overtime as the Black Bears (9-10) beat the Golden Knights (14-5) in Potsdam, New York.

Maine also got goals from Ida Kuoppala, Mire Seregely and Elise Morphy. Brooklyn Oakes stopped 22 shots.

BOWDOIN 2, NAZARETH 1: Sara Ito-Bagshaw scored off a centering pass from Gia Massari 1:43 into overtime to give the Polar Bears (2-1) a win over the Golden Flyers (6-1) in the Codfish Bowl semifinals at Boston.

Massari also set up a first-period goal by Emma Merrill.

COLBY 3, UMASS BOSTON 0: Jo Tattersall and McKinley Karpa scored in a span of 2:47 midway through the third period as the Mules (2-0) clinched a win over the Beacons (4-4) in the Codfish Bowl at Boston.

Beth Sinson opened the scoring 4:02 into the game.

Colby goalie Paige Bolyard stopped 15 shots.

TRINITY 2, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 0: Jelani Adorno scored early in the second period, and assisted on Ethel Wilhelmson’s goal in the final minute as the Bantams (2-2) defeated the Nor’easters (5-4) in Hartford, Connecticut.

UNE goalie Delanie Corcoran finished with 39 saves.
