AUBURN — Police arrested a local man Thursday in connection with gunshots fired into a building on Whitney Street early this month.
David Richards Jr., 18, was charged with reckless conduct with a firearm, a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
Police executed a search warrant at a local home in connection with the Oct. 7 shooting, according to a statement released Thursday by Police Chief Jason Moen.
Investigators seized a handgun, ammunition and a small amount of crack cocaine at the home, Moen said.
Richards also was charged with unlawful transfer of a handgun to a minor and unlawful possession of a schedule W drug, each crime a misdemeanor punishable up to 364 days in jail.
He was taken to Androscoggin County Jail and held on $20,000 cash bail pending an initial court appearance.
“The case remains a very active investigation and additional arrests and criminal charges are expected,” Moen said.
