The committee from the Auburn Chamber of Commerce arranging for the Boys and Girls clubs of Androscoggin County to be held in Auburn hall Oct: 27-28 met at the Chamber rooms Tuesday afternoon at 4 o’clock. Reports on entertainment plans were heard.
50 Years Ago: 1972
The Auburn City Council Monday night passed an order to allow the Urban Renewal Authority to sell land to the Casco Bank and Trust Co., which is constructing a new office building and bank in the urban renewal area. At the same time, it was announced negotiations are currently underway for the construction of a new Deering Ice Cream Shop adjacent to the bank.
25 Years Ago: 1997
Four tri-county high school bands will perform at the State Marching Band Competition at 5:30pm, at the Waterhouse Field on West Street in Biddeford. The rain date is 5:30 on Nov. 1.
Fifteen bands from central and southern Maine will compete. The area bands that will perform are Lewiston, Edward Little, Leavitt and Dirigo High Schools. They are members of the Maine Band Directors Association, and having performed four or more times this year, are eligible to compete in the state competition.
