LOVELL — Rachel Thurston is assuming the leadership of the Lovell Area Food Pantry following the resignation of Manager Michelle Molloy. She will be joined by a co-chair to be named in the future, according to a news release from the Lovell Area Food Pantry Board of Directors.
The food pantry will again be open from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday. Oct. 13, at the Lovell Lions building at 2081 Main St. It will be open every second and fourth Thursday.
Neighbors and donors should feel free to stop by during operating hours to visit, volunteer or donate.
Molloy founded the food pantry during the height of COVID. It was her passion to feed any area family in need, and work closely with the other local food pantries and non-governmental organizations to eliminate food insecurities in Western Maine, according to the release.
Sandi Swett of the Harrison Food Bank was instrumental in getting Molloy and the Lovell operation organized.
Molloy has moved on to other endeavors out of the local area. A celebration of her stepping down is planned in the future.
