Having moved to Auburn from New Gloucester in 2021, I’m pleased to support Bettyann Sheats for state Senate.
Her record as state representative resulted in bills, passed/funded to support first responders with PTSD; to secure transitional housing for women, veterans and their families; to remove stigma from past offenders seeking employment — so they might better get jobs and work honestly.
Bettyann is a veteran, a business owner, a grown-up.
Her opponent? At 26, Eric Brakey entered the Maine Legislature representing the New Gloucester area. This purported libertarian spent four years pushing ever-more cynical, dangerous gun laws, while trying/failing to achieve higher office.
Now 34, he’s back and still punching down at folks less fortunate than himself: “Getting working-age, able-bodied people back to work — collecting paychecks, instead of welfare checks — will be among my top priorities!” he tweeted Sept. 5.
We can do better in District 20, and her name is Bettyann.
