GRAY — Ashleen Perkins scored a pair of goals to lead Gray-New Gloucester to a 3-1 girls soccer win over Traip Academy on Tuesday.
Ellie Schlichting added a goal for the Patriots (2-4-2). Trinity Bean tallied two assists, and goalie Isa Ross made five saves.
Keira Alessi scored and Lily Stuart turned away 10 shots in goal for the Rangers (2-6).
LEAVITT 3, GARDINER 0: Kira Welch made 11 saves to earn her first career shutout as the Hornets (4-3) blanked the Tigers (4-4) in Turner.
Kylee Spugnardi opened the scoring with a goal for Leavitt three minutes into the game. Jalee Boucher assisted on the goal. Ali Dening scored twice in the second half, one an unassisted goal and the other on a penalty kick.
Gardiner goalie Taylor Takatsu made 10 saves.
CAPE ELIZABETH 11, POLAND 0: Noelle Mallory had five goals, while Evelyn Agrodnia and CC Duryee each had two as the Capers (8-0) rolled by the Knights (1-7) in Cape Elizabeth.
Heather Campbell and Piper Duryee also scored for Cape.
GOLF
ST. DOM’S QUALIFIES: The Saints dominated the Western Maine Conference Class C qualifier at Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro to earn a berth in the upcoming state championships.
St. Dom’s as a team shot 324, which was 36-over par, and beat North Yarmouth Academy (364) by 40 strokes and Waynflete (365) by 41.
The Saints also had the top three individual finishers. Garrett Kendall finished first, shooting a 3-over-par 73, followed by Miles Frenette (79) and Erik Jones (80). Waynflete’s Henry Kerr (84) and NYA’s Nick Pelletier (89) rounded out the top five.
Mason Laflamme (90) tied for sixth for St. Dom’s, while Ethan Pelletier (91) placed ninth and Joey Adams (97) came in 15th.
The Class C championships will be held Saturday, Oct. 8, at Natanis.
BOYS SOCCER
EDWARD LITTLE 3, BREWER 0: Mohamed Adow scored twice in the Red Eddies (6-0-1) shutout win over the Witches (4-3) in Auburn.
Abdihakim Daud added a goal and an assist for Edward Little. Shukri Hassan also set up a goal.
Red Eddies goalie Eli St. Laurent made six saves, and Brewer’s Grady Vanidestine stopped 11 shots.
LEWISTON 4, HAMPDEN 1: Mohamed Gabow tallied a pair of goals in the Blue Devils’ (6-1-1) win over the Broncos (2-5-1) in Lewiston.
Jacinto Mavinga and Hamze Nur also found the back of the net for Lewiston and Mustafa Hassan notched an assist. Payson Goyette made three saves and Colby Daigle also spent time manning the Blue Devils’ net.
Ethan Marquis scored Hampden’s goal on a penalty kick and Sam Burnham stopped eight shots.
LISBON 1, HALL-DALE 1: The Greyhounds (6-0-1) and the Bulldogs (4-3-1) played to a tie in Farmingdale.
Bryce Poulin scored for Lisbon off an assist from Daniel Levesque. Greyhounds goalie Levi Tibbetts stopped 12 shots.
Keegan Cary scored Hall-Dale’s goal, which was set up by Ihsah Adbalnabi, while Ben Nathan finished with 18 saves.
OAK HILL 5, WINTHROP 2: The Raiders (4-4) netted five goals in a high-scoring first half and downed the Ramblers (3-3) in Winthrop.
All seven of the teams’ goals were scored before halftime.
Oak Hills’ Ethan Vattaso led the way with two goals and an assist. Ethan Lemont, Luke Bergeron and Jordan Castonguay also scored for the Raiders.
Gabe Corey and Isaac Breau scored for the Ramblers.
Each team’s goalie, Cade Fassenden of Oak Hill and Jaxson August of Winthrop, finished with six saves.
TRAIP 4, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 3, OT: Quinn Alessi had the game winner and Dylan Santamaria led the Rangers (6-1) with two goals and an assist as they topped the Patriots (3-4-1) in overtime at home in Kittery.
Conor McPherson also scored for Traip. Jack Downs made six saves in goal.
FIELD HOCKEY
LEAVITT 4, ERSKINE 0: Cierra Barker scored two goals off of Izzy Gates assists in the first quarter to kickstart the Hornets’ (7-1) victory over the Eagles (2-6-1) in Turner.
Emma Beedy added a goal and an assist for Leavitt, scoring off a Maddie Morin assist in the second quarter and feeding Anna Sargent for the Hornets’ final goal in the third.
The Leavitt defense held Erskine without a shot on goal, while Makenzie Toner made 12 saves for the Eagles.
OXFORD HILLS 7, EDWARD LITTLE 0: Paige Temple scored two goals during the Vikings’ (6-2-1) three-goal outburst late in the second quarter to pull away from the Red Eddies (3-6-1) in Auburn.
Tristen Derenberger started the second-quarter scoring for Oxford Hills with 2:15 left to play before halftime. Temple then scored with 1:28 left and again with no time remaining in the period. Derenberger scored a second goal in the third quarter. Carlee-Mae Cash opened the scoring with a first-quarter tally, and Allison Slicer and Sierra Carson found the back of the cage in the fourth quarter.
Gabby Wright made two saves to secure the shutout for the Vikings, and Kasey Smith stopped eight shots in goal for Edward Little.
