PORTLAND — Mt. Blue scored on a quarterback scamper by Jayden Meader around right end with 52 seconds left to rally the Cougars past Deering 22-18 on Friday.

The Cougars’ (2-1) winning touchdown capped a comeback after Deering (0-3) built an 18-7 lead early in the final quarter.

The Rams led 6-0, fell behind 7-6 in the second quarter after Cowan Young’s 2-yard touchdown run for Mt. Blue, then regained a 12-7 halftime advantage.

Deering’s Tavian Lauture scored on a 6-yard run and threw a 20-yard TD pass to Jameson Dennis. Joey Foley opened the scoring with a 24-yard run.

A 4-yard pass from Meader to Charles Stevens cut Deering’s lead to 18-15.

YARMOUTH 36, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 14: Michael McGonagle ran for three touchdowns and added a 33-yard TD catch from Sam Bradford as the Clippers (3-0) downed the Patriots (1-2) at Yarmouth.

Spencer LaBrecque scored on a 5-yard run late in the first half, giving Yarmouth a 22-6 halftime lead.

Quarterback Michael Ryan had a pair scoring runs for Gray-New Gloucester, including a 70-yard scamper on fourth down in the third quarter.

WINTHROP/MONMOUTH/HALL-DALE 56, MADISON/CARRABEC/VALLEY 0: Robby Feeney, Dominic Trott and Nick Keezer each scored two touchdowns in the Ramblers’ (2-1) shutout win over the Bulldogs (1-2) in Madison.

Feeney and Trott each ran in for scores in the first quarter, then Feeney opened the second-quarter scoring by pouncing on a Ramblers fumbler for a touchdown. Keezer returned two punts for scores in the period, and Trott capped it off with another touchdown run.

Cody Cobb ran in for a touchdown in the third quarter, and Orion Mercado did the same in the fourth.

MOUNTAIN VALLEY 36, MARANACOOK 0: Kaden Paaso ran for three touchdowns in the Falcons’ (3-0) road win over the Black Bears (2-1) in Readfield to become the only undefeated team left standing in 8-man Small School South.

Paaso ran in from seven yards out, then followed with the two-point conversion, to give Mountain Valley an 8-0 lead after one quarter. Robert Leveillee and Lucas Libby had second-quarter touchdown runs, with Jyrrmal Yates and Paaso, respectively, running in the two-point conversions.

Paaso completed the scoring in the third quarter with touchdown runs of 45 and six yards.

EDWARD LITTLE 22, BREWER 20: Tyler Grenier scored a pair of touchdowns to the Red Eddies (2-1) get past the Witches (1-2) in Brewer.

Grenier scored on a 70-yard kickoff return and ran in a touchdown from 6 yards out. He also scored on a two-point conversion.

Quarterback Tate Morse tossed a 20-yard touchdown pass to Austin Sellinger and added a two-point conversion for Edward Little.
