Just imagine, if baseball were controlled by politicians, umpires could be appointed for life by whichever team won the World Series.
The winning of the series could be disputed indefinitely and declared by the losers to have been “stolen.”
The field, locker rooms and front offices of the winners could be overrun by angry fans of the losing team, destroying property and causing injury and death, egged on by the team owner.
Records and statistics of the game could be taken by the losing team’s owner as his own, and he could call a strike-out a home run and have his fans agree with him.
