LISBON — Avia Russo scored the eventual game-winner with seven minutes remaining in third quarter as Lisbon defeated Dirigo in an Mountain Valley Conference field hockey clash Wednesday.
The Greyhounds (2-1) scored twice in the first quarter, first off a corner shot from Haley Jane Tuplin, then when Kayla Cooper slapped in a goal thanks to a feed by Laura Mockler.
Jayce Brophy and Grace Averill each scored a goal for the Cougars (1-1).
Maria Levesque had 12 saves for Lisbon and Alyvia Eiils finished with 10 for Dirigo.
LEAVITT 1, LEWISTON 0: Cierra Barker took a feed from Jazzlynn Clark and popped in the winning goal in the third quarter as the Hornets (2-0) slipped away from the Blue Devils (0-2) in Turner.
Leavitt goalie Lily Chabot made four saves to preserve the win, while Lewiston keeper Kim McLaughlin made nine saves.
MOUNTAIN VALLEY 0, HALL-DALE 0 (2 OT): Brooke Brown stopped 22 shots for the Falcons (1-1-1) in a scoreless draw with the Bulldogs (1-0-1) in Farmingdale.
Hall-Dale goalie Jade Graham made 10 saves.
SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 10, TELSTAR 0: Aubrey Kachnovich, Olivia Mastine and Ryleigh Castonguay each scored a pair of goals as the Phoenix (1-1) glided to a victory over the Rebels (0-1) Bethel.
Adele Pease, Avery Bessey Brooklyn Fournier and Gracie McCourt each scored goal for Spruce Mountain, and goalie Mallory Clark made three saves.
BOYS SOCCER
BUCKFIELD 10, TELSTAR 0: Justin Lucas dropped in four goals, leading the Bucks (1-0) to a victory over the Rebels (0-2) in Bethel.
Lucas got the scoring going early in the game with a header off of a Brayden Jack cross. Cole Brewster came up with a pair of goals, while teammates Dylan Bickford, Seamus Keough, Tanner Cousineau and Trevin Albert each scored one.
Brayden Jack, Albert, Brady Trenoweth, Seamus Keough, Saylor Bourassa and Jonas Culleton each earned an assist for Buckfield.
Telstar goalie Adam Stephenson made 10 saves, including several diving stops. Buckfield netminder Gavin Charest stopped three shots.
SPRUCE MOUNTAIN/DIRIGO 3, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 2: Kaleb Finelli scored a pair of goals and teammate Nate Holland punched in one in the Phoenix’s (1-1) win over the Falcons (0-1) in Rumford.
Kaleb Finelli also collected an assist and Lucas Towers had two for Spruce Mountain/Dirigo.
Ben DeSalle and Owen Sevigny scored for the Falcons.
GIRLS SOCCER
LINCOLN 2, LEAVITT 1: Mariam Delisle and Bronwen Coffin each scored a goal in the first half and the Eagles (2-0) held on the rest of the way in a hard-fought win over Leavitt (0-2) in Turner.
Logan Arsenault cut into the lead with a goal for the Hornets late in the first half. The Hornets outshot the Eagles, but Jillian Chadwick was up to the task in goal for Lincoln, making 15 saves on 25 shots.
Kira Welch made three saves for the Hornets.
