I was watching Friday Night SmackDown, a popular wrestling show. It used to be watchable, but now it’s a lesson in how to gang up on a person.
The bad thing about it is it’s so popular, as it’s on three or four times a week.
It’s a really good lesson for our kids, isn’t it? On these so-called entertainment shows there is no limit to the weapons wrestlers can use to pummel your challenger. This is supposed to be a good thing?
Somewhere done the line things have taken a turn for the worse. It used to be one-on-one and rules wrestlers had to follow. Today it’s if they dare to win a match, the rest of the gang will beat the stuffing out of them.
The worst part is the so-called champion is the leader of these thugs. This is not entertainment. It’s teaching people’s children it’s OK to gang up on people to beat the stuffing out of them. Then we wonder why people are getting sucker punched while walking down the street.
With all the lawlessness that is pervasive in the news today, do people think shows like that are not a contributor to it?
I think so for sure. Gone are the days when we had to follow rules, or laws for that matter.
They used to think our shows back in the day were too violent. It was nothing compared to what people watch on the tube today.
