The Androscoggin Retired Educators’ Association plans to meet at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, at the Sixth Street Congregational Church, 109 Sixth St. in Auburn.

The speaker will be Jamie Caouette from Lewiston High School’s Store Next Door, which provides needed items, both personal and educational, for many homeless students who attend Lewiston High School. Members are asked to bring items for the store, such as toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant and bar soap.

The luncheon, to be prepared by members of the church, will cost $12, and will be chef’s choice. This includes coffee or tea and dessert.

The association meets five times per year: September, October, November, March and April. Dues are $10 per year for members, and $6 for non-teacher spouses or partners. Honorary members age 85 or older no longer need to pay dues.

All educators are welcome. This includes teachers, teacher assistants, guidance counselors, custodians, secretaries and administrators — anyone who has worked in education. They need not have worked in Androscoggin County or even in Maine.

To reserve a spot, mail a check for dues and lunch by Wednesday, Sept.  7 to Gina Fuller, 36 Elliott Ave., Lewiston, ME 04240.
