FAIRFIELD — Two teenagers were charged Friday with aggravated assault after they beat another teenager in a fight that was watched by about a half-dozen other juveniles, some of whom recorded video of the attack, police said.
Fairfield officers were called to Mill Island Park shortly after noon on a report of a teen who had been assaulted.
The officers determined that a 14-year-old girl was assaulted by two other girls, one 14 and another 16, according to police spokesman Officer Casey Dugas.
A group of six to eight other juveniles had gathered to watch the 14-year-old be beaten, Dugas said.
The assailants were arrested and later released into the custody of their parents. Their names and criminal charges were forwarded to state juvenile probation officials.
The victim was transported to a Waterville hospital for treatment. Dugas said her injuries were not serious.
While officers were at the park, another juvenile arrived and disrupted their investigation, Dugas said. That juvenile was arrested on charges of criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and obstructing government administration, he said.
No other information was released by authorities.
