The Auburn Police Department has canceled “National Night Out” activities planned for Tuesday evening — again.

According to an announcement via Twitter, they won’t reschedule this year.

The national event, scheduled for the first Tuesday in August every year since 1984, has been held locally for about two decades, giving members of the community an opportunity to interact with law enforcement on a leisurely level and not just during emergencies. The Auburn Police Department canceled last week’s event because of storms in the weather forecast.
