A driver oversteered onto the sidewalk on the Longley Bridge late Tuesday night, knocking down a light pole. The driver, who was heading from Auburn into Lewiston in the right-hand lane of the bridge, had no explanation why she went up on the sidewalk, according to Auburn police, but she was not impaired. When the pole fell, it landed on the bridge guard rail, damaging it slightly. Police line tape and orange pylons blocked the sidewalk around the broken pole until mid-morning Wednesday when the Department of Transportation removed the pole. Daryn Slover/Sun Journal
