LIVERMORE FALLS — Selectmen will hold a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Town Office on an application for a license to operate a medical marijuana cultivation facility at 20 Baldwin St.
Applicant Dana Cummings of California is seeking a license to operate at the former Primary School, which he owns. The Planning Board approved a site plan review application for the facility on June 29. Cummings plans to use about 900 square feet, or 6%, of the building, board Secretary Gayle Long said Monday.
During their regular meeting after the hearing, selectmen will decide whether to fill the selectman’s seat vacated when Nixon Ortiz resigned July 1. He was elected June 14 to a two-year term.
Selectmen can either hold a special election or leave the position open.
Ortiz said Monday that he resigned because he was not happy he was not given a chance to tell his side of the story after he was fired in June from the on-call Livermore Falls Fire Rescue Department, and didn’t get a chance to appeal the decision to the Select Board. He had held the position of lieutenant.
Ortiz said Town Manager Amanda Allen fired him in late June.
In June, Allen wrote in an email that she could not talk about personnel matters. She was not immediately available Monday to comment on Ortiz’s statement.
Prior to the hearing, the Select Board will hold an executive session at 5 p.m. at the Town Office on a legal matter, according to the agenda.
