Area youth lend helping hands as they join with a Lewiston teacher and mentor to turn an ugly retaining wall into a work of art that represents the many nationalities reflected in the city's diverse community.

With a public art projects grant from the city of Lewiston, Eamon White, background, bought paint and coordinated with local youth to transform a retaining wall Wednesday at the corner of Bartlett and Birch streets in Lewiston. “Twist your hands around in all different directions,” he tells Ezra Veit.
