LIVERMORE FALLS — Treat Memorial Library plans to hold its Summer Reading Program 2022: Oceans of Possibilities.
For every book or half hour read, participants can earn a non-perishable food item for the food bank. Plus, they can solve the ocean-themed mystery for a chance to win a treasure chest.
Clues will be posted on the Beanstack site, Facebook, and at the library every Thursday in July during the reading program. Readers also can solve puzzles and put the clues together to become a marine detective this summer.
Participants can track reading online at treat.beanstack.org or request a reading log at the 56 Main St. library.
People can create a masterpiece on Octopus’s Garden Paint Night at 6 p.m. July 7. Readers can see what they can spy with their little eye (maybe some treasure) during the Pirate Scavenger Hunt at 6 p.m. July 14, according to a news release from the library.
They can conduct some marine science experiments on Ocean Science Night at 6 p.m. July 21.
All events will be held outside, weather permitting. The rain date for any events missed is 6 p.m. July 28.
Also, Story Time will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays outdoors at the library, weather permitting. The event will feature picture books, sing-alongs and other activities.
Each Story Time will include a take home craft. Story Time status will be updated every Wednesday morning on Facebook as outdoor or online.
Book Club will meet both via Zoom and in person, at 3 p.m. July 14. The classic play “12 Angry Men” will be read as part of the library’s Count on Books series (books with numbers in the title). To request a copy of the book up for discussion, let staff know.
Find out the library’s latest favorites from its shelves with Bonkers for Books, its biweekly recommendation video on Facebook. Some of the library’s favorites will shared on Saturday, July 9.
The library will be closed Tuesday, July 5, in observance of Independence Day.
