RUMFORD — The Fourth of July Committee and the Rumford Parks Commission are bringing back the popular River Valley Fourth of July Celebration on Monday.
It will open to the public at 4 p.m. at Hosmer Field, with the popular bicycle parade and the decorated wagon/carriage parade at 5 p.m. There will be a dunk tank and vendors. Dorie Oakes of the Rumford Falls Eagles 1248 auxiliary will provide children’s games.
Central Maine Pyrotechnics of Farmingdale will provide the show, which runs anywhere from 18 to 22 minutes. The cost has risen about $2,000 to around $15,500.
Donation buckets will be available to help ensure a celebration next year.
“All of us here have full-time jobs,” Richard said. “We don’t have time to go out and fundraise.”
The committee is again looking for anyone who would like to volunteer, even for a couple of hours. Help is needed for games or cooking.
Interested vendors, particularly food vendors, may contact Richard at 357-9444.
