Kayla Adams, 19, of Livermore, was recently crowned the 2021-22 Crown of Maine Miss delegate. She will now compete in the national pageant, scheduled for July 9 and 10 in Orlando Grande Lakes, Florida, for the title of Crown of America Miss.
Crown of America is a “natural” and wholesome pageant for ages 5 and older that is low-glitz and focuses on creating an environment for contestants to express themselves as they are and encourage them to pursue their ambitions while making the world a better place, according to a news release from Adams.
Melinda Corey, the national director of this pageant, is a Maine native and created this opportunity based on the fact that age, size, and skin color is what makes everyone unique and special.
Adams recently graduated from Central Maine Community College with an associate degree in life sciences. Her career plans include attending the Maine College of Health Professions to study medical imaging and become a radiologist. She aims to work in pediatric care in a hospital setting as an ultrasound technician.
Adams is employed as a customer service representative by Franklin Savings Bank and also by Softie Delite in Livermore Falls. She participates in charity bottle drives, food drives and fundraisers.
She has created the platform “Feeding Maine by Kayla,” and seeks ideas on how to make that platform stand out and promote nutrition in low income communities, one state at a time.
