GREENVILLE — Carmen Crockett struck out 12 batters and Addison Stevens-Belanger homered and went 4-for-4 as fifth-seeded Buckfield overwhelmed fourth-seeded Greenville 19-0 in a Class D South softball quarterfinal on Thursday.
The Bucks (8-8) put up eight runs in the fifth inning. They also pounded out 21 hits.
Buckfield didn’t commit an error, while the Lakers (9-5) made six.
The Bucks advance to face No. 1 Searsport (12-5) in the semifinals.
BASEBALL
MONMOUTH 11, WAYNFLETE/NYA 2: Kyle Palleschi had three hits, drove in three runs and earned the victory as the No. 5 Mustangs beat fourth-seeded Waynflete/NYA in a Class C South quarterfinal.
The Mustangs (14-4) scored single runs in the first and second innings, then broke it open with three runs in the third and five in the fourth.
Monmouth finished with 15 hits, as Sam Calder, Hayden Fletcher, Owen Harding and Isaac Oliveira produced two apiece.
Waynflete/NYA (13-5) got two hits and an RBI from Dylan Kullman.
The Mustangs will face the winner of Friday’s quarterfinal between No. 1 Lisbon (17-0) and No. 8 Oak Hill (11-6) in the regional semifinals on Saturday.
