50 years Ago: 1972

The Auburn City Council Monday night is expected to take action on several petitions calling for the preservation of the Plummer and Merrill Funeral Home at 212 Turner Street. That item appears on the agenda released today by city clerk Leroy E. Linnell. The funeral home complex at 212 Turner St. is  scheduled to be demolished in connection with the Union Street Bypass. However recently a group of area  citizens have circulated petitions that the structure be preserved. Those petitions will be presented to the council Monday night.

25 Years Ago: 1997

A tractor safety course for boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 16 years will be offered by the Twin County Extension Service in cooperation with Ivan Waflingford, an Auburn tractor dealer. The course will meet all standards set up by the US. Department of Labor. Information can be obtained from Paul J. Dowe, county agent, Box 78, Lewiston.
