STRONG — Trevor Phelps tallied two extra base hits in Mt. Abram’s 6-1 MVC baseball win over Oak Hill (9-6) on Monday.
Phelps produced an RBI triple in the first and later added a double. Phelps and Kaden Pillsbury each had two RBIs in the game. Wyatt Siemenski also recorded two hits.
In a 1-1 game, Mt. Abram (13-2) scored five in the sixth inning.
Phelps went 6 2/3 innings, striking out nine while issuing three hits and two walks.
Kyle Delano, Isaac Morrissette and Cooper Spencer each had a single for Oak Hill. The lone run came in the fifth inning.
WINTHROP 7, MONMOUTH 1: Andrew Foster’s double in the first inning helped spark a three-run frame in the Ramblers’ 7-1 win over the Mustangs (12-4) in Monmouth.
He also pitched for Winthrop, allowing one run on two hits, striking out eight and walking one.
Tyler Shumway also drove in a run in the first and Will Grant added an RBI single in the second. Winthrop (9-7) scored two more in the fifth inning and once in the seventh.
Shumway and Grant each recorded multiple hits.
Matt Marquis and Carter O’Connell each tallied hit for Monmouth. The Mustangs scored their run in the fourth.
SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 2, HALL-DALE 1: Isaac Parker went the distance in the Phoenix’s (11-5) win over the Bulldogs (7-8) in Livermore Falls.
He struck out eight and allowed one run, two hits and two walks. He also recorded a single at the plate. Eli Moffett produced the eventual game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the sixth. Spruce Mountain took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
Ben Nathan had a sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth for Hall-Dale to tie the game at 1-1. Max Byron recorded both hits for the Bulldogs, with a single and a double.
SOFTBALL
TELSTAR 12, CARRABEC 10: The Rebels (6-10) rallied with seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to top the Cobras (2-13) in Anson.
Winning pitcher Natasha Mason homered and drove in pair of runs for Telstar. Teammate Leah Kimball collected three hits and drove in three runs and Katie Evans doubled, singled twice and also drove in three runs.
For Carrabec, losing pitcher Shyanne Holmes doubled and belted three singles at the plate to try and help her own cause.
MT. ABRAM 3, OAK HILL 0: Adrianna Stinchfield struck out 14 Raiders (7-8) batters and allowed one hit in the Roadrunners’ (5-9) victory in Salem.
She also helped her own cause with a double at the plate. Aiyanna Savage and Olivia Roderick each notched two hits. The Roadrunners scored once in the bottom of the first and twice in the bottom of the fourth.
Aubrey McElhaney recorded Oak Hill’s lone hit.
HALL-DALE 15, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 3: Rita Benoit belted two hits and drove in five runs, leading the undefeated Bulldogs (14-0) to a win over the Phoenix (5-11) in Jay.
Hall-Dale’s Lily Platt and Tanley Tibbetts each tallied a pair of hits and drove in two RBIs. Emma Soule tripled and drove in three runs. Winning pitcher Ashlynn Donahue went the distance for the Bulldogs.
Spruce Mountain’s Sam Martin singled twice and drove in a run and Jaydn Pingree added an RBI single. Mallory Clark was tagged with the loss after four innings of pitching for Spruce Mountain.
