LEWISTON — Kaydence Morse’s three-run homer run highlighted a six-hit, eight-run first inning that propelled Oxford Hills to a 17-6 softball victory over Lewiston in five innings Wednesday.

Bella DeVivo also homered for the Vikings (12-2), and Gigi DeVivo had a triple. Maddy Miller pitched 4 2/3 innings to earn the win.

The Vikings, who finished with 17 hits, added one run in the second, six in the fourth and two in the fifth.

The Blue Devils (3-10) answered Oxford Hills’ big first with three runs in the bottom half of the inning, including a two-run homer by Charlotte Cloutier. Sage Cormier added a two-run double in a three-run fifth for the Blue Devils.

MT. BLUE 7, EDWARD LITTLE 6: Caitlin Burke scored the game-winning run when Lexi Belanger was hit by a pitch with bases loaded, as the Cougars (1-13) slipped by the Red Eddies (7-8) to earn their first win of the season in Farmington.

Belanger tallied two hits, two runs and an RBI, and Burke had two hits and two runs for Mt. Blue. Anna Brackett pitched all seven innings and earned the win.

Alexis Kelsea had three hits, scored one run and drove in another for Edward Little, while Maddy Scott contributed two hits, a run and two RBIs.

POLAND 2, LAKE REGION 1: Atlantis Martin hit an RBI single in the first inning and combined with Gretchyn Paradis on a one-hitter as the Knights (13-1) defeated the Lakers (10-5) in Naples.

Khloe O’Leary went 3 for 3 and scored on a groundout by Emma Bunyea in the third inning to give Poland a 2-0 lead.

Martin struck out six and walked one in five innings, allowing only an unearned run after a double by Lake Region’s Sadie Tirrell in the bottom of the third. Paradis struck out four of the six batters she faced over the final two innings for the save.

BUCKFIELD, CARRABEC SPLIT: The Cobras (2-11) and Bucks (7-8) each earned a win during a doubleheader in Buckfield.

The Bucks took the opener, 3-1. Carmen Crockett struck out 12 and only allowed two hits for Buckfield. She also had a hit and an RBI.

Cora Brewster also drove in a run for the Bucks. McKenna Ridlon and Abigail Prokey contributed a hit apiece.

The Cobras were victorious, 4-2, in the second game, despite being out-hit 5-3.

Ridlon, Crockett, Brewster, Emma Stevens-Belanger and Prokey each had a hit for Buckfield. Stevens-Belanger and Prokey drove in the Bucks’ two runs.

DIRIGO 13, TELSTAR 3: The Cougars (5-9) rode a nine-run first inning to a six-inning win over the Rebels (5-9) in Dixfield.

Grace Robbins pitched all six innings for Dirigo, striking out 10, to earn the win. She also doubled and drove in three runs. Alyssa Ellis drove in two runs, while Emily Woods, Alyvia Perreault, Emma MacFarlane, Alivia Ellis and Layla Miller each scored two runs.

The Rebels extended the game with a three-run fifth inning, highlighted by Mackenzie Eliot’s bases-clearing hit. Eliot finished with two hits, including a double.

HALL-DALE 13, LISBON 0: Ashlynn Donahue pitched a two-hitter, retiring 13 straight batters during one stretch, and the Bulldogs earned the MVC win in five innings in Farmingdale.

Zoe Soule, who caught the game for Donahue, had a pair of hits, including a double for Hall-Dale (13-0).

Lisbon falls to 6-9.

LEAVITT 8, MORSE 0: Lily Chabot had two singles and three RBIs for the Hornets (10-5) in a win over the Shipbuilders (4-10) in Turner.

Sam DeBlois and Sam Withee also chipped in with two singles, and Nola Boutaugh had a double and two RBIs. Leavitt scored six runs in the sixth inning.

Camdyn Johnson hit a double for Morse.

MADISON 10, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 0: Brook McKenney tossed a no-hitter as the Bulldogs rolled to an MVC win over the Phoenix in Madison.

McKenney added three hits at the plate for Madison (13-1).

Spruce Mountain falls to 4-10.

MONMOUTH 13, OAK HILL 3: The Mustangs (11-2) plated six runs in the fourth inning and scored three more in the sixth to wrap up a six-inning MVC win over the Raiders (7-6) in Monmouth.

Brooklyn Federico, the winning pitcher for Monmouth, tallied four hits — a double and three singles — while Rileigh Chase added three hits, including a double. Kate Laliberte drove in three runs on two singles, and Madi Herr, Taylor Truman and Casey Kaplan each finished with a pair of singles.

Kelsey Young led Oak Hill with two hits.

ST. DOMINIC 22, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 6: Kathleen Dean allowed six hits and six runs over seven innings while striking out nine and walking zero in the Saints’ (13-1) win over Seagulls (2-13) in Old Orchard Beach.

St. Dominic Academy opened the scoring when Dean doubled in a pair of runs in the first inning. The Saints finished with six runs in the frame.

The Saints put up seven more runs in the seventh to cap the scoring. Izzy McMillen, Benedict Yombe, Kyla Wallace, Emily Andrews, Bella Perryman and Cami Casserly all drove in runs in the inning.

Summer St. Louis drove in four runs for the Seagulls with a home run, a triple and a single.

BASEBALL
DIRIGO 7, TELSTAR 2: Dakota Tompkins pitched five innings, allowing two runs and three hits while striking out four in the Cougars’ (8-6) win over the Rebels (1-12) in Dixfield.

Tompkins helped his cause at the plate with two singles and a pair of RBIs. Trent Hutchinson added a triple and a single, Curtis Errington notched two singles Drew Collins doubled.

Dirigo scored two runs in the first, third and fourth innings and capped its scoring with one run in the sixth.

Matt Dillon had a double and drove in two runs in the third inning for Telstar.

EDWARD LITTLE 13, MT. BLUE 1: Gavin Levsque doubled, singled and drove in three runs in the Red Eddies’ (7-8) six-inning win over the Cougars (7-8) in Farmington.

Brody Keefe and Brady Vincent each had two RBIs for Edward Little, and Kamden Masselli contributed two singles.

Vincent pitched five innings, striking out eight and allowing four hits and only one run.

Hayden Durrell had a pair of singles for Mt. Blue, and Zak Koban had a double.

FREEPORT 3, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 2: Zane Aguire’s RBI single in the seventh inning lifted the Falcons (11-3) over the Patriots (4-11) in Gray.

Nathan Abbott picked up the win, striking out eight while allowing five hits. He also hit a double.

Blaine Cockburn put Freeport in front with a two-run homer in the top of the first. The Patriots tied it in the bottom half when Ian Libby homered with a runner aboard.

Libby finished with two hits. Zach Winchester took the loss, despite allowing only four hits.

LISBON 10, HALL-DALE 0: Hunter Brissette threw a one-hit shutout to lead the Greyhounds past the Bulldogs in a Mountain Valley Conference title in Farmingdale.

Brissette struck out 15 batters and walked only one for unbeaten Lisbon (13-0). He also helped his cause at the plate with three singles and three RBIs. Ethan Brown, Mason Booker and Riley Turner each added two singles.

Max Byron had the lone hit for the Bulldogs (7-7).

OXFORD HILLS 15, LEWISTON 5: Eli Soehren had a double and a single and drove in five runs in the Vikings’ (12-2) five-inning victory over the Blue Devils (6-8) in Lewiston.

Soehren also struck out seven and allowed seven hits and five runs to earn the win.

Andrew Merrill doubled, singled and drove in two runs for Oxford Hills’ offense. Hunter Tardif tallied three singles, and Isaiah Oufiero had two hits, including a double.

Tanner Anctil had a team-high three hits for Lewiston. Jeffrey Randall added a pair of hits and an RBI.

POLAND 8, LAKE REGION 4: Mitchell Bean, Sam Paladino and Drew Sayler each had two hits for the Knights (8-6) in their win over the Lakers (4-11) in Naples.

Sayler drove in two runs, and Bean and Regan Cohen each hit a double for Poland, which scored four runs in the top of the sixth to turn a 4-3 lead into an 8-3 cushion.

Bean got the win, in relief of Sayler.

Lake Region’s Matt Aker drove in two runs with a home run and a single. Dexter Thayer and Brody Sandberg added two hits apiece for the Lakers.

LEAVITT 6, MORSE 0: Will Keach tossed a two-hit shutout with eight strikeouts and had two hits of his own at the plate to help drive the Hornets past the Shipbuilders in Turner.

Noah Carpenter went 3 for 4 with a triple and three RBIs for Leavitt. One of Keach’s hits was a double.

Gabe Aucoin took the loss after starting on the mound for Morse, which held the Hornets to six hits.

GIRLS LACROSSE
MT. BLUE 8, LEWISTON 7, OT: Eryn Parlin tallied four goals and an assist in the Cougars’ (6-4) come-from-behind, overtime win against the Blue Devils (3-7) in Farmington.

Lewiston had a 4-1 lead at halftime and the Cougars scored six goals in the second half as the teams entered overtime tied 7-7.

Chloe Roberts notched two goals for Mt. Blue, while Talia Kidder and Emma Dunn each added a goal. Michelle Seaberg stopped 11 shots in the win.

Mya Grant scored four times for Lewiston, while Leah Dube scored a pair and Cecilia Miller scored once. Elaina Gendron made 12 saves in the loss.
