WINTHROP — June Foyt singled home Rileigh Chase in the top of the seventh to break a tie and Monmouth held on to beat rival Winthrop 4-3 in MVC softball action Tuesday afternoon.
Shanna Parsons had a pair of singles and two RBIs for the Mustangs (10-2), and also pitched the first five innings. She and reliever Brooklyn Federico held Winthrop to just four hits. Federico struck out two of the final three batters of the game to end the contest.
Madi Herr hit a double for Monmouth.
Annabell Blais had two hits, including a triple, for the Ramblers (7-7), and Maddie Perkins drove in two runs.
LISBON 13, TELSTAR 2 (5 INN.): Sophie Malloy had three hits, including a double, and an RBI in the Greyhounds’ (5-8) five-inning win over the Rebels (5-8) in Lisbon.
Maria Levesque also had three hits — all singles — and an RBI. Brooke Norman had two singles and an RBI.
Greyhounds pitcher Erica Hill had seven strikeouts while scattering four hits. She helped her own cause at the plate, driving in two runs.
Lisbon scored seven runs in the third inning and five in the fourth.
Makenzie Eliot had two hits for Telstar.
BASEBALL
OXFORD HILLS 4, GARDINER 0: A three-run fifth inning helped the Vikings (11-2) in a victory over the Tigers (1-12) in Gardiner.
Oxford Hills also scored a run in the second.
Kolby Brown had two singles and an RBI. Andrew Merrill had two RBIs, while Eli Soehren hit a triple.
Kaden Delano pitched six innings to earn the win on the mound. He had five strikeouts and allowed just one hit. Nick Binette came on in the seventh inning in relief.
Gavin White nearly went the distance for Gardiner, going 6 2/3 innings and allowing four hits.
MT. BLUE 12, CAMDEN HILLS 2 (5 INN.): Brody Walsh had a home run and three RBIs for the Cougars (6-7) in a five-inning win over the Windjammers (5-7) in Farmington.
Jayden Meader had a single and two RBIs for Mt. Blue. Nolan Leso and Zachary Poisson each had two hits. Isaac Wrigley had a double for the Cougars, who had a seven-run third inning.
Leso pitched five innings, allowing four hits and two runs.
Hunter Bell had a triple and a single for Camden Hills. Liam O’Neal had two RBIs.
GIRLS LACROSSE
WAYNFLETE 18, ST. DOMINIC 7: Tilsley Kelly had four goals and six assists as the Flyers (6-4) beat the Saints (4-7) in Portland.
Keegan Dolan also scored four goals for Waynflete, while Morgan Earls and Skylar Harris each added three. Lydia Birknes had two goals and three assists.
Isabella Pelletier led St. Dom’s with three goals. Emma Roy had two goals and three assists.
BOYS LACROSSE
EDWARD LITTLE 4, OXFORD HILLS 3: Andrew Clements had a goal and an assist in the Red Eddies’ (2-7) win over the Vikings (3-7) in Auburn.
Clements tied the game at 1-1 in the first quarter and set up Tyler Smith’s goal in the third quarter to give Edward Little a 2-1 lead.
The Vikings scored in the third quarter to tie the game at 2-2.
Wesley Clements and Austin Sellinger scored in the fourth quarter to give the Red Eddies a 4-2 lead. Oxford Hills scored later in the quarter to cut the deficit to one.
