CMCC SPLITS DOUBLEHEADER: Central Maine Community College (10-5 in spring) bounced back from a first-game loss to win the second and a earn a doubleheader split with Community College of Rhode Island (9-11) in Auburn.

The Mustangs broke a tie in the sixth inning to win the second game 12-9.

CMCC, which scored in all but one inning, took a 9-2 lead into the sixth. The Knights plated seven runs in the sixth to tie the game, but the Mustangs tacked on three runs in the bottom half of the inning to go up 12-9.

Stefan Lesco led CMCC with three hits. Wyatt Lufkin earned the win on the mound.

The Knights got off to a big start in the opener, plating eight runs in the second inning, and hung on for a 14-7 win.

Caleb Harris led the Knights with three hits and four RBIs. Geuris Vargas added two hits and three runs.

Knights pitcher Nate Campbell pitched six innings, giving up two earned runs with four strikeouts.

Will Bean led the Mustangs with two hits, and he and Jake Arel each scored twice.

MAINE 4, UMASS LOWELL 3 (11 INN.): Ryan Turenne tied the game with a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning, then hit a bases-loaded single in the 11th to give Maine a 4-3 win over UMass Lowell in an America East baseball game in Orono.

Turenne finished with three of Maine’s eight hits.

Maine (17-14, 14-3 America East), which has won seven straight, took a 1-0 lead in the fourth when Quinn McDaniel walked and scored from first on a double by Joe Bramanti. Lowell (15-21, 7-9) went ahead with two runs in the sixth, but McDaniel’s RBI single tied it in the bottom half.

Colin Fitzgerald pitched the final four innings for Maine in relief of Trevor LaBonte, who allowed four hits and two runs in seven innings while striking out eight.
