LEWISTON — Bates College used 22 hits and scored 13 runs in the fifth inning to hammer out a lopsided 28-12 victory in an eight-inning baseball game on a wet Wednesday afternoon at Leahy Baseball Park.

The Bobcats (6-16) took advantage of the Bulldogs’ (7-17) seven errors.

Bates’ Christopher Cimino belted five hits and drove in six runs and infielder Kevin Lucey had three hits and earned three RBIs. 

Sam Hough (2-0) got the win for the ‘Cats. Each team used eight pitchers to hold the fort down on the mound.

MEN’S LACROSSE

TUFTS 32, BATES 13: The Jumbos (9-2, 6-1 NESCAC) set a program single-game scoring record after strong-arming the Bobcats (0-11, 0-8) in Lewiston.

Max Ettinghausen led the No. 8 nationally ranked Jumbos with five goals, followed by teammates Mac Bredahl and Jack Boyden, who each scored four goals. By halftime, Tufts had built a 23-4 lead.

For the Bobcats, Will Schinabeck turned in a hat trick while teammates Bobby Conroy and Jack Lousararian each scored two goals.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

TUFTS 18, BATES 5: The Jumbos (7-3, 3-3) erupted with 11 goals in the first half and cruised to a victory over Bates (3-7, 1-6) in Medford, Massachusetts.

Margie Carden and Ella Lesperance scored six and four goals, respectively, to lead Tufts. Jordyn Teeter led the Bobcats with two goals.
