Season outlook: With three returning players and many new players that have potential, Dirigo expects to be much more competitive this year. Senior Hayden Adams qualified for the state singles tournament last season.

EDWARD LITTLE RED EDDIES
Coach: Greg Vincent (13th year)
Conference: KVAC; Class: A
Last year’s results: 5-6, lost on A North quarterfinals.
Returning athletes: Juniors — Jonah Chen, Lucas Pawlina.
Key losses: Simon Hayes, Shane Kilby, Kayden Kirouac, Jameson Treadwell, Thomas Brann.
Promising newcomers: Juniors — Jaxson Kimball, Jacob Bennett; Sophomore — Brady Kilby; Freshman — Owen Winslow.
Season outlook: Despite the loss of five seniors, Edward Little is looking to build upon its moderate success from last season. Returning players Jonah Chen and Lucas Pawlina will anchor the top of the lineup. The Eddies anticipate that the talented first-year players will help them rebuild quickly, score some big wins during the season and make a deep playoff run. Coach Greg Vincent is excited about the upcoming season.

LEWISTON BLUE DEVILS

Last year’s results: 3-10
Returning athletes: Juniors — Ben Cloutier, Evan Greaton, Jack Kahan; Sophomores — Dru Angelides, Everett Mailhot, Gavin Bavis.
Key losses: Garrett Mack, Owen Vincent.
Promising newcomers: Junior — David Abdi; Sophomores — Brody Cyr, Austin Vincent.
Season outlook: The Blue Devils will return five players who saw extensive action in 2021. With another year of tennis under their belts, the Blue Devils this season will look to make a deeper run in the Class A North playoffs.

MOUNTAIN VALLEY FALCONS
Coach: Todd Papianou (10th year)
Conference: MVC; Class: B
Last year’s results: 7-6, lost on B South quarterfinals.
Returning athletes: Senior — Ian Cameron; Sophomores — Nate Gallant, Owen Sevigny, River Durant, Nathan Gamache, Caleb Gamache.
Key losses: Levon Mickeritz, EJ Weston.
Promising newcomers: Junior —Bender Doleleman; Sophomore — Aziretaly Kydyraliev; Freshmen — Chase Duguay, Ben DeSalle, Miles Smith.
Season outlook: The Falcons are excited for the season to begin and looking forward to battling in the MVC. Papianou is grateful for the mild weather and that the snow has melted earlier than usual in Western Maine this spring, which as allowed the Falcons’ focus in the preseason to be on skill development. While Mountain Valley is a young team, Papianou said if the young players pick up and strengthen their skills, wins will follow.

MT. BLUE COUGARS

Last year’s results: 10-3, lost in A North quarterfinals.
Returning athletes: Juniors — Carson Zundel, Daniel Hodgdon; Sophomores — James Stinson, Milo Thompson-Vought, Tim Williamson, Braxton Malcore, Calvin Tanner.
Key losses: Elijah Craig, Michael Ferrari, Ayden Beisaw, Andy Chen, Kaden Allen, Dema Hupp.
Promising newcomers: Junior — Israel Montes; Sophomores — Noah Brougham, Jacob Caton, Jack Cramer, Aydrian Dakin, Bernardo Tovar, Logan Walsh; Freshmen — Nathaniel Armstrong, Eli Hoeft, Gordon McBean.
Season outlook: After a strong 2022 season, the Cougars are excited to be back on the courts. With only one returning starter, this year’s team features a number of new faces to the lineup. Although the Cougars have no seniors, they have great numbers and are eager to improve every day in practice. Bernardo Tovar, Carson Zundel and James Stinson will look to help lead the young Cougars to a successful season in a tough Class A North.

SPRUCE MOUNTAIN PHOENIX

Marc Keller (second year) and Leeanna Levoie (fourth year).

Last year’s results: 2-7-1
Returning athletes: Seniors — Owen Bryant, Cully Johnson; Sophomore — Ian York.
Key loss: Drew Delaney.
Promising newcomers: Sophomore — Tyler Guay; Freshmen — Josiah Levoie, Bryce Comeau.
Season outlook: Spruce Mountain has a lot of experience at the singles spots with returners Owen Bryant, Cully Johnson and Ian York. While the doubles duos will be made up entirely of newcomers, the Phoenix’s goal is to be better than 2o21 and vie for an MVC championship.

WINTHROP RAMBLERS
Coach: Dania Price (first year)
Conference: MVC; Class: C
Last year’s results: 12-1, lost in C South final.
Returning athletes: Senior — Nathan Hachey; Sophomore — David Gustin.
Key losses: Josh Deanda-Whaley, Noah Grube, Adam Hardy, Jacob Smith, Sam Fuller.
Promising newcomers: Sophomores — Sam Brito; Freshmen — Joseph Szakas, Logan Harrison.
Season outlook: The Ramblers lost five seniors but are a young team with great enthusiasm and drive, according to new coach Dania Price. Nate Hachey and David Guston will provide great leadership for the newcomers. Price is excited to see how this team does in 2022.
