NORWAY — The store front at 449 Main Street is being transformed from a Chinese restaurant to Chinese medicine. Norway acupuncturist Megan Gauger is renovating the space to relocate her practice, Healing Tides, from down the street. She will continue to see clients at 327 Main Street until her new office opens for business.

The windows at 449 Main Street are boarded over but scaffolding out front suggests the work going on inside. According to Norway’s code enforcement department, the interior is being completely gutted and renovated. The plumbing and heating will be replaced and upgraded. The windows will be replaced and new siding will be added. The work is being done by Austin Home Builders, LLC from Paris.

Gauger says the renovations will be complete by May. She has scheduled an open house for May 7 and her practice will officially open its doors the following Monday, May 9.

The most recent of Chinese restaurant located in the building was the Panda Cafe.

The project was approved by Norway’s planning board in April of last year. The estimated construction cost will be $200,000, according to the the building application.

Gauger first opened Healing Tides in 2019. She said the new location will bring more treatment rooms, office space and a sunny, open waiting area for clients.
