LEWISTON — An ecumenical and interfaith prayer service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 13, at the Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul, 122 Ash St.
The service is to offer prayers for peace in Ukraine and for the innocent people currently suffering in the country, according to a news release from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland.
Among those who will participate in the service are Father Daniel Greenleaf, pastor of Prince of Peace Parish in Lewiston; the Rev. Annie Baker-Streevy, pastor of Calvary United Methodist Church in Lewiston; Brittany Longsdorf, multifaith chaplain at Bates College in Lewiston; and Mayor Carl Sheline of Lewiston.
The service also will be livestreamed at princeofpeace.me and facebook.com/PrinceOfPeaceME.
Concrete ways to offer support for the people of Ukraine will be communicated during the service.
