Maine Franco-American Genealogy Society elected new officers and board members at the nonprofit organization’s last general meeting in 2021.
Board member Marie Murphy was employed for the city of Lewiston for 37 years. She was born and raised in Lewiston, and her deep Canadian roots include the family names of Cloutier, Dostie, Nadeau and Veilleux.
Vice President Arthur Allard, originally from New Hampshire, served four years in the U.S. Coast Guard. He also worked for the Lewiston Public Schools system for 31 years. He joined the society in 1998 and served as vice president, president and research director.
Jeanne Letourneau has served as a society board member for about six years and is also a board member of the Minot Historical Society.
The Rev. Robert Parent, the society’s president, has served as a board member, librarian and president for several terms.
Webmaster Simeon Breault is a retired U.S. Air Force officer with 25 years of service, and was a school bus driver for 17 years. He was born in Lewiston and resides in Brunswick. He joined the society in 2018 serving as a board member, librarian, “obituary clipper” and webmaster. He recently completed a 10-generation chart and is still collecting details on the Breault-Bazinet family ancestors.
Board member Ann Nadeau is semiretired after working 15 years at Oxford Networks as a marketing and human resource coordinator. She also served as a volunteer and board member for the Woman’s Hospital Association at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston. She is working on her 10-generation family chart which includes the family names of Miville-Deschaines and Morneault.
