PERU — Select Board Chairwoman Tammi Lyons has submitted her resignation, effective June 14, saying she can no longer make the weekly meetings.

“I just don’t have the time now,” she said. “I just cannot continue to do meetings every week. If they had wanted to go back to every other week, I would have stayed.”

Lyons announced her decision at the Feb. 28 board meeting. As of the annual Town Meeting on June 14, she will have served three years and have one year left on her term.

A second seat to be filled in June is one formerly held by Chairwoman Raquel Welch-Day, who resigned last fall to become Mexico town manager. That seat is for three years.

The other members of the Select Board are Gail Belyea, Lynda Hebert and Jason Dolloff.
