100 Years Ago: 1922

The Social dance which was given by the members of Lakeview Grange Saturday evening was well attended and a pleasant time reported. The refreshments were served at intermission. Kelley’s Orchestra furnished music. The following committee had charge: Mrs. Leon Berry, Silas Bennett and Elmer Shaw. A  Merchant’s Carnival and dance will be given under the auspices of the same committee Saturday evening Feb 25. The regular grange meeting will be held next Saturday evening for which a Washington and Lincoln program is being arranged.

50 Years Ago: 1972

(from a Journal photo) Taber’s Lakeside Stand on Lakeshore Drive, has been rebuilt and boasts a brand new food serving area, its old wooden structure replaced with a concrete one, and it awaits a more seasonable springtime opening. Lake Auburn, which just last week had a perfect skating, snow-free surface, is seen in the background, with the brand-new white coat received in the weekend’s Northeaster.

25 Years Ago: 1997

The Lewiston-Auburn Community Little Theatre will present “Damn Yankees” at the Great Fails Performing Arts Center, Academy Street, Auburn. Performance dates are March 7, 8, 9, 14 and 15. Friday and Saturday performances will be at 8 p.m. and the Sunday performance will be at 2 p.m. The production crew is Mary Glen Rosenberg, John Blanchette and Paul G. Caron, Eileen M. Rosenberg, Amey Feeley, Celeste Philippon and Steve Dupont.
