AUBURN — The Central Maine Community College women’s basketball team advanced to the Yankee Small College Conference tournament final with a resounding 93-39 win over Paul Smith’s College on Wednesday.

Emily Strachan paced the Mustangs with 24 points, making 8 of 14 field goals, including 5 of 7 from 3-point range.

Eliza Brault and Kali Thompson added 12 points apiece and Cyla Moore scored 11 for CMCC.

The Mustangs seized control early, outscoring the Bobcats 35-8 in the opening quarter.

Jastic Eleby led Paul Smith’s with 15 points. Jordan Louis added 11.

MAINE 49, ALBANY 45: Paula Gallego and Anne Simon each put up 13 points to help the Black Bears (16-10, 13-3 America East) get by the Great Danes (19-9, 12-5) in Albany, New York.

Maeve Carroll registered seven points, seven rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block for Maine, which won its 10th consecutive game and clinched the top seed in the America East tournament.

Albany’s Lucia Cortes led all scorers with 18 points, adding eight rebounds. Helene Haegerstrand tallied 12 points and five rebounds.

MEN’S BASKETBALL
ALBANY 72, MAINE 68: Matt Cerruti scored 18 points, making 4 of 5 3-pointers as the Great Danes (13-15, 9-7 America East) beat the Black Bears (6-21, 3-13) at Orono.

Jamel Horton chipped in 14 points for Albany. Trey Hutcheson had 12 points and Justin Neely finished with 10 points.

Maine was led by Byron Ireland’s 13 points. Maks Klanjscek had 12 points and Peter Filipovity had 11 points and four rebounds.

MEN’S LACROSSE
BABSON 12, BATES 7: The Beavers (2-0) took a six-goal lead after the first period and pulled away to beat the Bobcats (0-1) at Babson Park, Massachusetts.

Matt Stucchi led Babson with four goals. Chi Chi Price and Lee Sipes each scored twice. Matt Mowac made 13 saves in net.

Bates had seven scorers. Garrett Fitzsimmons and Spencer Wood combined for 14 saves.
