WATERVILLE — This year the Thomas Cup, a competition held annually that engages Maine high school students in various technology and innovation challenges, is to be held in person after being held virtually last year, according to a news release from Thomas College.
The Thomas Cup is scheduled for Friday, March 18, overnight into Saturday, March 19, on the 180 West River Road campus.
Teams of five high school students will compete in science, technology, engineering and innovation events for the chance to win their names on the Thomas Cup and receive scholarships worth up to $10,000 over four years.
Competition areas include cyber defense, e-sports, computer science, and crime scene analysis.
All Maine high school students are welcome to participate, no matter their experience or skillsets. Thomas College professors, staff and current students will help students succeed, learn, and have fun.
“We are incredibly excited to bring high school students from across Maine to our campus for this exciting event,” said Thomas College VP of Innovative Partnerships Ed Cervone. “And we couldn’t do this without our incredible sponsors who truly believe in providing opportunities for high school students to engage and learn in the technology and innovation space.”
Participation is free because of event sponsors Central Maine Power, Unum, WEX, Project Login, and AT&T.
Registration is open online at thomas.edu/thomas-cup.
