Wins in six events, as well as mention plenty of top-three finishes, pushed Lewiston to the team title at the KVAC Class A indoor track championships Saturday at Bowdoin College in Brunswick.
Abdirizak Abukar won two events (200- and 400-meter dashes) and he was second to teammate Raimundo Lubota in the 55 dash. Lubota was the runner-up in the 200. Abukar (200) and Lubota (55) both set new school records.
Farid Muhammad-Aceto topped the charts in the shot put, Jabreel Muhammad-Aceto set a new school record while winning the 55-meter hurdles, and the Blue Devils won the 4×200 relay.
Lewiston scored 133 as a team, beating out Mt. Ararat by three points.
Oxford Hills was sixth, with all of its points coming from Nick Plamandon (second in shot put, third in both the 55 and 200). Edward Little was two points behind in seventh, with Nathan Hyndman’s fourth-place finishes in the long, triple and high jumps accounting for the majority of the Red Eddies’ points.
On the girls side, Brunswick ran away with the team title, amassing 154 points. Lewiston was second at 114 points and Edward Little was third with 70.
Lewiston got event wins from Amelia Wedderburn (KVAC record 17-7.5 in long jump) and Aydrianna Bowman (high jump), as well as the 4×800 relay.
For Edward Little, Makenna Drouin placed first in the 55 hurdles, 55 dash and 200, and Princess Monday won the shot put.
Ashlee Farrah (fourth in 800) and Kalli Johnson (sixth in long jump) helped Oxford Hills finish seventh.
