AUBURN — Forward Sarah Moore put on a show.

The sophomore from Lisbon scored all four goals in the No. 3 seeded Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse/Lincoln Academy’s 4-0 win in a North regional girls hockey quarterfinal game against No. 6 Yarmouth/Freeport at Norway Savings Bank Arena on Wednesday.

“The team all together was passing the puck, playing as a team,” Moore said. “Everyone was rushing the net and (producing) rebounds.”

The teams were supposed to meet last week in the regular season but the game got canceled because of the weather. Clippers (6-9) coach David Intraversato wished the teams were able to get that game in.

“We really wanted to play them,” Intraversato said. “We would rather push the game Saturday and play two games if we had to. It is what it is; we knew we were going to play them today. I think it would have been nice to play them again before tonight to have it under our belts.”

The first period appeared headed for scoreless frame, but Moore broke the deadlock with 40 seconds remaining to put the Eagles (14-3-1) up 1-0.

“(The goal) changed the momentum. All the coaches said Yarmouth was coming out in the second period to get that goal back,” Eagles assistant coach Dave Hunter said. “We were able to hold them; we were running around in the offensive end.”

Moore continued her performance in the second period, skating past a Clippers defender at the offensive blueline before a wrist shot beat goaltender Sydney Abbott (15 saves).

“Its hand-eye coordination, really. She threads the needle, and she knows what she’s doing with the puck and goes to the net,” Intraversato said of Moore.

Later, Moore ripped a shot in from the slot after receiving a pass from Megan Reed to extend the lead to 3-0.

“Sarah Moore is a sniper; she can put pucks where she wants them,” Hunter said. “With the support of her team feeding her pucks, making opportunities happen, she capitalizes on them.”

Intraversato said he didn’t feel his team was out of it at that point.

“We had the momentum most of the time. We dumped and chased a little more to live behind the net in the offensive zone. We couldn’t put the pucks in that were close, missing a couple of people who were wide-open. (If) we score that breakaway at the end of the second, we come out in the third a little different. It could be a different game.”

Greta Marchildon made 16 saves in the game for the Eagles.

“She had an outstanding game, she was a brick wall in the net for us,” Hunter said.

Alex Duran sent Moore a pass at the offensive blue line and Moore blasted a shot from the point for a 4-0 lead in the third period.

The Eagles will take on No. 2 Edward Little/Leavitt/Poland in the regional semifinals on Saturday at Norway Savings Bank Arena.

“We are hyped; we just had our best game and going in, it will be a good competition,” Moore said. “We need to keep playing our game and keep going at it.”
