Area roundup: Dirigo girls split two games in two towns

BETHEL — Jayce Brophy and Destiny LeClerc combined for 29 points as Dirigo girls basketball team won the first of its two games Wednesday, 47-33 over Telstar in MVC action.

Brophy scored a team-high 15 points for the Cougars (10-6) and LeClerc was right behind with 14. Megan Fletcher added seven points.

Morgan Zetts continued her recent hot streak — which includes 40 points in a win over Wiscasset on Saturday — putting up a game-high 22 points for Telstar (4-12).

Dirigo played a 4 p.m. game in Bethel and then traveled home for a 7:30 p.m. game against rival Mountain Valley in Dixfield.

MOUNTAIN VALLEY 40, DIRIGO 34: The Cougars’ (10-7) bid for two wins in two different towns on the same day was denied by the Falcons (7-9) in Dixfield.

After a slow first half by both teams — Mountain Valley led 12-11 at the break — the Falcons outscored the Cougars 15-9 in the third quarter and held on in the fourth to earn the rivalry win.

Mountain Valley’s Autumn Freeman led all scorers with 20 points, highlighted by three 3-pointers. Emily Richard added seven, with six of those coming in the fourth quarter.

Dirigo was led by Alyvia Perreault’s 10 points, including two 3-pointers. Destiny LeClerc and Megan Fletcher each added six points.

BANGOR 68, OXFORD HILLS 55: Emmie Streams’ hot hand in the first quarter helped the Rams (11-5) build a 23-10 lead that was too much for the Vikings (15-2) to overcome in Paris.

Streams, who finished with 19 points, hit three 3-pointers in the opening quarter. Laela Martinez added seven points in the first and finished the game with 11. Abbie Quinn (20 points) only contributed two points to the big first period but was instrumental in holding the lead with 18 points over the next three quarters.

Sierra Carson had another big game for Oxford Hills, scoring a game-high 23 points. Ella Pelletier added 15 points and Molly Corbet hit three 3s and had nine points.

GREELY 45, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 25: Chelsea Graiver scored 10 of her 21 points in the third quarter as the Rangers (13-4) used an 18-7 advantage to take control against the Patriots (12-6) at Gray.

Sophia Ippolito tossed in 15 points for Greely, which led 17-15 at halftime.

Isabelle Morelli led Gray-New Gloucester with eight points.

HALL-DALE 57, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 43: Amanda Trepanier scored 15 points to lead the Bulldogs to the Mountain Valley Conference victory in Farmingdale.

KK Wills had 14 points for Hall-Dale (16-0), while Hayden Madore scored nine.

Olivia Mastine had 11 points and Jaden Pingree scored 10 for the Phoenix (12-5).

MADISON 35, MONMOUTH 25: Arabel Linkletter scored 14 points and hauled in seven rebounds to pace the Bulldogs to the MVC win in Madison.

Hailey Paquet added eight points for Madison (10-7), while Alison Griffeth had three points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Monmouth (3-8) was led by Holly Hunt with seven points and Reese Beaudoin with six.

VALLEY 70, RANGELEY 52: Madeline Hill scored 25 points to lead the Cavaliers to the East/West Conference win in Rangeley.

Brielle Hill added 19 points for Valley (12-1), while Rylee Clark finished with 15.

Winnie LaRochelle led all scorers with 23 points for Rangeley (9-3). She also grabbed 11 rebounds. Emily Eastlack added 19 points. LaRochelle shot 7 for 7 at the free-throw line and Eastlack made 9 of 14. Isa Wittier added seven points for the Lakers.

SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 50, ST. DOMINIC 30: Ellie Leach dropped in 23 points to lead the Guardians (10-5) to a win against the Saints (5-11) in Eliot.

Breckyn Winship added 18 points for Seacoast Christian.

Jessie Zimmerman hit three 3-pointers and scored 13 points for St. Dom’s.

BOYS BASKETBALL
SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 61, HALL-DALE 37: The Phoenix improved to 16-0 with a decisive victory over the Bulldogs (6-12) in Farmingdale.

Jace Bessey drained five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 27 points for Spruce Mountain. Ian York made four 3s and contributed 16 points, while Lucas Towers hit two treys and scored eight points.

TJ Wilson led Hall-Dale with 17 points.

ST. DOMINIC 54, SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 31: Jonathan Tangilamesu and Taylor Varney scored in double figures for the Saints (12-5) in their road win over the Guardians (4-12) in Eliot.

Tangilamesu led the way with 12 points and Varney finished with 10. Gabe Carey added nine.

Seacoast Christian’s Isaiah Cardinal was the game’s high scorer with 16 points.

VALLEY 71, RANGELEY 49: The Cavaliers (10-3) outscored the Lakers (2-10) 26-7 in the second quarter to break open was was a three-point game after one period in Rangeley.

Fisher Tewksbury and Jared Ricker paced Valley with 20 and 18 points, respectively.

Rangeley was led by Chase Carmichael’s 14 points, while Anthony Whittier added 12 and Austin Hathaway scored 10.

MT. BLUE 73, ERSKINE 49: The Cougars (8-9) took control early, building a 24-8 lead over the Eagles (1-16) after one quarter in South China.

Mt. Blue’s Chandler Briggs hit four 3-pointers and topped all scorers with 19 points. Three other Cougars scored in double figures: Evans Sterling had 16, Charles Stevens (two 3s) 12 and Zach Poisson 11.

Liam Perfetto scored 15 and Kaden Doughty finished with 14 for Erskine.

MARANACOOK 53, LEAVITT 47: Brayden St. Pierre and Chris Reid each scored 19 points as the Black Bears improved to 9-7 with a KVAC Class B win in Readfield.

Sawyer Hathaway scored 16 points to lead the Hornets (11-7).

GREELY 67, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 60: Andrew St. Hilaire scored 21 points to lead the Rangers (10-7) past the Patriots (10-8) in Cumberland.

Timothy Walker added 16 points and Dee Martin Coyne had 12 for Greely.

Nate Hebert and Anthony Prescott each tallied 13 points for Gray-New Gloucester. Jay Hawkes finished with 10.

UNIFIED BASKETBALL
LEWISTON 44, POLAND 36: Joe Hall scored a game-high 16 points for the Blue Devils (2-0), who edged the Knights (0-1) in Poland.

Moses Rwambaza added eight points for Lewiston.

Kaylynn Cook (11 points) and Jacob Paradis (eight points) paced Poland.

NYA 4, VERMONT ACADEMY 1: Former Lewiston standouts Michael Belleau and Daxton St. Hilaire each recorded a goal and three assists in the Panthers’ win over the Wildcats in Yarmouth.

Belleau opened the scoring 19 seconds into the second period, with Nathanel Peretz and St. Hilaire providing the assists. Peretz made it 2-0 in the opening minute of the third period, with Belleau and St. Hilaire assisting.

St. Hilaire scored his goal midway through the third on a power play, with Belleau and Peretz providing assists, and the two former Blue Devils assisted on Peretz’s goal just over three minutes later.

Euan Martin stopped 20 of 21 shots in goal for NYA.
