LEWISTON — Mia Roy and Brianna Gadaleta scored 18 points apiece to lead Bates College to a 75-62 rivalry victory over Colby College in NESCAC women’s basketball action Tuesday.
Meghan Graff added 16 points for the Bobcats (12-6, 4-3 NESCAC), who outscored Colby 22-8 in the second quarter after the teams entered the period tied 14-14.
Caroline Smith scored a game-high 22 points for Mules (9-9, 1-8).
HARRIS EARNS LEC HONOR: University of Southern Maine senior Victoria Harris, a Lewiston grad, was named the Little East Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday.
Harris averaged 17 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.0 steals, 1.8 assists and 1.5 blocks across four games in five days over the past week, including three-consecutive double-doubles. Her final performance of the week on Sunday featured a career-high 25 points.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
CMCC’S DAVID GARNERS YSCC AWARD: Central Maine CC senior guard Corey David was named the Yankee Small College Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week on Tuesday.
David averaged 19.67 points in three games over the past week, including scoring his 1,000th career point during a 20-point effort Sunday. He also poured in 30 points Saturday and filled the stat sheet with nine points, seven rebounds, five assists and two steals in a Mustangs victory last Wednesday.
COLLEGE INDOOR TRACK
JACKSON GRABS LEC MEN’S HONOR: Southern Maine freshman Jacob Jackson, an Edward Little grad, was named the Little East Conference’s Rookie Field Athlete of the Week on Tuesday.
At the Maine State Championships on Saturday, Jackson placed in the top five in all three jump events. He won the high jump with a best leap of 1.85 meters, was fourth in the triple jump at 13.05 meters and fifth in the long jump at 6.25 meters.
